Three different places share the name “Love River”
Most visitors lose time because the name “Love River” points to three separate areas, each with its own nearest station and its own atmosphere:
- Downtown Love River — around Ambassador Pier and Hedong Road. This is where the Love Boat and the gondola depart, and it is the classic night view.
- Love River Bay — near the harbour mouth, linking Love Pier, Glory Pier and the Kaohsiung Music Center. Wider water, modern skyline.
- Heart of Love River — upstream in the north, two connected lakes used for cycling, jogging and quiet evenings.
They are not within walking distance of each other. Decide which experience you want, then choose the station.
Which station for which section

| Heart of Love River | LRT C24 | Cycling, ecology, jogging |
There is no “Love River” station on either line. See the full getting there guide for exits, walking times and parking.
What to do first
For a first visit, start at the downtown section and walk south towards Love River Bay. In about two hours you can see the classic river, board a boat, and finish with the harbour at dusk. If you only have one evening, this is the route to keep.
For the boat decision itself, compare the two options in the Love Boat vs gondola guide before you buy a ticket.
How long you need
- Two hours: downtown section, then Love River Bay.
- Half a day: Yancheng or the History Museum, a boat ride, then sunset at the bay.
- A full day: Pier-2 and Dagang Bridge, Love River Bay, then the downtown night view. Keep Heart of Love River for a separate morning or a cycling half-day.
Before you go
The riverside walkways are open all day and free to enter. Boat trips, museums, rotating bridge displays and seasonal events each have their own schedule and tickets, so check the operator’s announcement on the day, especially for weather or large events that can affect the Light Rail.
