Quick answer: which station for Love River?
There is no station called “Love River”. For the classic downtown boat section, take the MRT Orange Line to O4 Qianjin (formerly City Council) or O2 Yanchengpu. For the Kaohsiung Music Center and Love River Bay, take the Light Rail to C10 Glory Pier or C11 Love Pier. Heart of Love River is C24.
| Destination | Station | Good for |
|---|---|---|
| Ambassador Pier, Love Boat | MRT O4 Qianjin | First visit, starting downtown |
| Hedong Road, History Museum | MRT O2 Yanchengpu | Yancheng food first, river after |
| Glory Pier, Music Center | LRT C10 Glory Pier | Architecture and harbour night view |
| Love Pier | LRT C11 Love Pier | Starting point for Love River Bay |
| Pier-2, Dayi warehouses | LRT C12 Dayi Pier-2 | Connecting to Dagang Bridge |
| Heart of Love River | LRT C24 | Cycling, ecology, jogging |
Walking times vary by exit and traffic lights. Use the table to choose the right area, not as a substitute for live navigation.
Why you cannot find a “Love River” station
The most common problem is not the route but the name. Neither the MRT nor the Light Rail has a station called “Love River”, so searching for “Love River” and tapping navigate can drop you at the station furthest from where you actually want to go.
The other confusion is O4 Qianjin. This station was originally named City Council Station and was renamed Qianjin Station after the council moved. The code and location are unchanged, so older maps or articles that still say City Council mean today’s O4 Qianjin.
Type your landmark into your map app rather than “Love River”: Love Boat Ambassador Pier for a boat ride, Love Pier or Kaohsiung Music Center for the harbour, and Heart of Love River for the upstream lakes.
Downtown section (Love Boat and gondola)
For Ambassador Pier, MRT O4 Qianjin is the most direct first-visit option. If you are coming from Pier-2 or Yancheng, walking in from O2 Yanchengpu flows better.
This is where both boats depart. To decide between them, read the Love Boat vs gondola guide before choosing where to get off.
Love River Bay and the Music Center
Love River Bay is connected by the Light Rail. Use C10 for Glory Pier, C11 for Love Pier, and C12 for the Dayi warehouses and Dagang Bridge. The three stops are close, so the best approach is to get off at one and walk the bay in one direction.
The Light Rail gets crowded after concerts and festivals, so do not leave the minimum transfer time if you are catching a train or a flight.
Heart of Love River
Take the Light Rail directly to C24. This is upstream and is not a short walk from Ambassador Pier or Love River Bay.
If you want both on the same day, move by Light Rail and allow for the full ride and waiting time. Do not try to squeeze it into a two-hour route.
Arriving from THSR Zuoying
Transfer to the MRT Red Line at Zuoying, change to the Orange Line at Formosa Boulevard, and get off at Qianjin or Yanchengpu. For Love River Bay, continue onto the Light Rail. For Heart of Love River, compare the Light Rail and bus connections on the day.
With luggage, dropping your bags at your hotel first is far more comfortable than dragging them along the river.
Driving and parking
Roads around Love River get congested at weekends and during performances and large events. Base parking decisions on the day’s actual availability and rates at public or private car parks, and do not assume street parking will be an option.
If your plan spans the downtown section and Love River Bay, park once and continue by Light Rail or on foot. It is usually faster than hunting for a new space at every stop.
For driving, use Google Maps directions and follow on-site signs to a car park once you arrive.
Now fit it into your day
